Teamwork SkillsOvercoming the Fear of ChangeTeams who work together encounter many changes, but the skill with which they can manage change is what sets apart the good from the great. Coping with change is a valuable teamwork skill. With any change, there are benefits and there are losses. It’s important to acknowledge what people will be losing once the change occurs and understand the potential drawbacks. Why is it so important to deal openly with feelings of loss? Because people may displace difficult emotions into resistance and resentment of everything and everybody around them taking it out on other team members and the organization at large. Ask your group to share stories about a change that occurred in their lives that they dreaded. What did they fear about that situation? What actually happened? Were their fears realized or not?
